Tekla Structural Designer- Steel connection design

Tekla Structural Designer is advanced software used for Structural Analysis and Design of a Building. In Tekla, we can do the detailing of steel structures as well as RCC structures. We can create RCC buildings and we can insert the rebars in Tekla structures Designer software.  We can also do the form works and structural drawing without the help of any other software.

Let’s go step by step to know how to connect steel designs in TSD.

Step 1

As we can see it is a steel connection design that is fully designed and analysed in TSD.

There are two methods for steel connection design. In the first method, we can use the analysis result then we can manually design the connections to be bolted, rebated and welded and the second method is that we can use the additional add on in TSD. So here we will know both the methods.

So as we can see the height of the two columns has been increased.

Step 3

Now we will go to the connection window and we can right-click on the connection then we will click on update connection. So as we can see the connections have been updated and if we want to maximise the window and I want to select the beam to column simple connection and if we click on any connection then select the visible views, the particular connection which we want will be highlighted. Now if we want a design in that connection. Now we will check the analysis result so that we can design by the manual methods, so we will go to the results view and after going to the result view we can turn on results of the beam ends and we will select the particular load combination for the results. Now we can find out forces and beams i.e shear major in the Z direction. So using these values we can design the foundation or else there is another method of designing, for that we need to install software i.e Tekla portal frame and connection designer and in this software, we can design the steel connection.

STAAD Pro Vs Tekla Structural Designer .Which One Is Better ?
