Tekla Structural Designer- How to model slant roof in TSD.

Tekla Structural Designer is advanced software used for Structural Analysis and Design of a Building. In Tekla, we can do the detailing of steel structures as well as RCC structures. We can create RCC buildings and we can insert the rebars in Tekla structures Designer software.  We can also do the form works and structural drawing without the help of any other software.

Let’s go step by step to know how to model slant roofs in TSD.

Step 1

First of all, we will open a new project and define some construction levels. After designing construction levels just click on ok then we will go to the base level and create some grid lines. Now we will create the gridline of 6m then make another grid line parallel to it then join these two grid lines with another two grid lines, one from the top and another from the bottom. Now extend both the parallel grid lines and insert some grid lines and we can also change the properties as per our preference.

 Fig. 1

Step 2

Now we will insert some columns. After inserting the column, we will change the top level of the two columns.

Fig. 2

So as we can see the height of the two columns has been increased.

Fig. 3

Now we will model the beams, so for modelling the beams, just click on the beams option and then insert the beams. So as can see the beams have been inserted.

Step 3

Now we will create the roof panel, so for creating the roof panel just open the slopes option in the structure window then just click on IP1, after that we will go to the model option then create a certain roof panel. So as we can see, we have created the roof panel in our 2D view. Like this, we can model slant roof in TSD.

Fig. 4

So like this you can create a Sloped Roof in TSD.

Tekla structural Designer VS ETABS.

Let’s see the difference between TSD and ETABS. Step 1 As per the modelling aspects in ETABS we can import the grid lines we cannot import the shadow of an architectural drawing and in Tekla, we can import grid lines as well as the shadow of an architectural drawing assigning beams and columns is very easy and the modelling becomes quick.  In ETABS we cannot see the extruded view easily but in TSD we can see the extruded view easily. Basically, visualization is easy in TSD as compared to ETABS.   Step 2 In TSD load application is very easy as the dead load and live load both are almost same but in the wind...

What are TOF, SSL, & TOS in Tekla structural designer ?

Tekla structural designer (TSD) is a simple, integrated design & analysis software that gives engineers the power to analyze and design buildings efficiently and profitably. Pile foundation as two parts likely pile cap and pile, here in TSD we can design the pile cap but not the pile. TOF (Top of foundation), TOS (Top of steel), SSL (Structural slab level) are the terms in TSD software which are used while creating levels. Refer the below steps we will know about TOF , SSL & TOS  : Step 1 Go to TSD software and click on construction levels, under that section you will come across the type of level being designed, likely TOF, TOS, & SSL.     TOF: Top of foundation is a level which is helpful for placing foundation, plinth level and helps in excavation work identification also. TOS: Top of steel (level) takes a major part while you are working with the steel structures, composite structures or else steel structure completely, so in these cases you can mak...

Difference Between Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer

NTRODUCTION: Tekla Structures and Tekla Structural Designer both are Software Developed by Trimble, some of the major differences between the two software are as Follows. 1. USAGE: The following are the primary differences between the two software based on their usage and the final product generated. TEKLA STRUCTURAL DESIGNER (TSD) is a  Structural Analysis & Design Software, it is used for structural analysis and design of all structural members after the application of loads (Eg. Live Load, Dead Load, Wind Load, Seismic Load etc.) as per the standard code provisions, varying with the location of construction of building. TEKLA STRUCTURES (TS) is a   Structural Detailing & Building Information Modelling (BIM) Software, it can be used for creating detailed model after we have the Structural design results. After finishing the BIM Model, a section can be cut from any Plane to generate Good For Construction Drawings (GEC) with detailing of rebar specifying the...
